On November 16 and 17, 2017, the Global Cultural Districts Network (GCDN) held its first North America Regional Convening, gathering members from Canada and the United States in Providence, Rhode Island. The convening was generously hosted by the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism of the City of Providence.
While in Providence, delegates participated in roundtable discussions on topics such as innovative partnerships, security in public space, and challenges and threats to cultural districts. The convening also featured tours of the WaterFire Arts Center, AS220, and the arts district in downtown Providence.
