Tom Finkelpearl, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and Katy Clark, President of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, offered welcoming remarks and gave a brief overview of the rich history of cultural infrastructure in New York and Brooklyn.
