Making a Difference:
Agency, Accountability and Impact
Co-hosted by GCDN member LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura in Lugano, Switzerland, 15–17 June, the 2020 Annual Convening will bring together international cultural and civic leaders to shape the agenda for cultural districts in a changing world.
Building on the success of previous convenings and the network’s ongoing R&D agenda, the convening will explore districts’ responsibility towards social impact; climate crisis; land value capture; and the relationship between anchor institutions and the creative industries.
Lugano’s modest scale, its complex amalgam of languages and cultures, location at the heart of Europe and spectacular lakeside arts centre will provide a rich site to explore definitions of impact and the variety of models of cultural districts in Switzerland, Europe and the world.
This year’s event aims to capitalise on the collective wisdom of the GCDN membership – so come prepared for a highly participative programme of debate, workshops, social events and networking activities.
GCDN Membership grants free registration for two representatives and access to additional paid tickets. Convening attendees have access to preferential rates at selected hotels in downtown Lugano – providing 100 rooms at walking distance to LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura.
