The Cultural Center Planning Initiative (CCPI) is a strategic framework designed to transform Detroit’s Cultural Center into a more vibrant, connected, and welcoming destination. Now housed under the leadership of the newly launched Detroit Cultural Center Association (DCCA), this initiative builds on years of collaboration among the district’s institutions to enhance public spaces, foster innovation, and strengthen community engagement. The DCCA plays a critical role in advancing this vision by overseeing the rollout of free public Wi-Fi across the district, encouraging collaborative programming among cultural partners, and raising visibility for the Cultural Center as a premier hub for arts, education, and civic life. Through strategic leadership and partnerships, the DCCA is shaping the future of Detroit’s Cultural Center as a dynamic, world-class destination.
Our mission is to serve and promote the Detroit Cultural Center’s community of arts and culture organizations through collaborative programming, shared services, and communications AND to enhance the Detroit Cultural Center visitor experience by providing a welcoming environment, inclusive programming, and accessibility for all.
DCCA seeks to connect with a global community of cultural leaders, share best practices, and gain insights into innovative strategies for cultural district management. As we work to enhance Detroit’s Cultural Center through collaborative programming, public space activation, and digital infrastructure improvements, GCDN offers valuable expertise, peer learning opportunities, and advocacy resources that align with our vision of making the Cultural Center a dynamic and inclusive destination.
