ALMAAHH (Advocates of a Latino Museum of Cultural and Visual Arts & Archive Complex in Houston, Harris County) was established in 2021, with a bold vision to create a community-rooted, safe, and shared space where US Latinos can explore, research, discuss, connect, convey and showcase their identities and common features through arts and culture. ALMAAHH is envisioned as a state-of-the-art museum complex that will serve as a national hub for Latino art and culture, connecting people through innovative programs, cutting-edge digital infrastructure and thoughtfully designed spaces. It will foster creative collaborations, attract a diverse array of artists, and underscore the vital role of art in society, positioning Houston as a vibrant center for Latino cultural expression.

Reason for joining GCDN

ALMAAHH was inspired and motivated to join the network after experiencing first-hand what the leadership and world class exchange of ideas and innovation looks like at an international stage in the framework of the GCDN. We are motivated to join the network of cultural leaders to integrate ideas and learnings of best practices around the world. We welcome collaboration with other cultural institutions, governments, community leaders and other nonprofits for the advancement of the arts ecosystem. We also understand that being part of this network will mean credibility within the cultural sector, signaling the community that the organization is connected to a global movement dedicated to cultural vitality and urban transformation.
