Jessica has a multidisciplinary background that includes arts management, art history, and theatre directing. As Communications Manager for AEA, Jessica supports the company’s brand strategy and implementation and all communications and marketing efforts. In addition, Jessica serves as Deputy Director of the Global Cultural Districts Network (GCDN), an initiative of AEA Consulting and the New Cities Foundation launched in 2013. She has also worked on international arts collaboration projects with the Quartier des Spectacles of Montréal, a founding member of the GCDN.
Jessica received her M.A. in Arts Management at American University (AU), where her research focused on gender equity in arts leadership. As part of her graduate capstone project, she founded equalarty (www.equalarty.com), a web-based resource that seeks to inspire and empower women arts leaders of tomorrow. While at AU, Jessica was a graduate fellow for a large research project with the William Penn Foundation. In addition, she co-founded the Alumni in the Rotunda program, strengthening the program’s alumni relations and building networking and mentorship opportunities for current students.
Prior to her graduate studies, Jessica worked at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts as administrative assistant to the director. She also served on the Young Professionals Board of Richmond CenterStage and was highly engaged in various cultural projects throughout Richmond, Virginia. Jessica received a B.A. in Art History from Virginia Commonwealth University with a special focus on ancient Egyptian art. In 2004, Jessica founded Side Show Productions, Blacksburg, Virginia’s first teen-run not-for-profit theatre company.
