Pru Robey is Toronto Artscape’s Vice President and Creative Placemaking Lab Director. Artscape is a Canadian not for profit urban development organization that makes space for creativity and transforms communities through the development of creative and cultural infrastructure. Pru has directed Artscape’s Creative Placemaking Lab since 2009, where she has lead the research, partnership development and sector engagement process to build the vision and case for Artscape projects, and has acted as an advisor to organizations and communities across North America on cultural facility development and strategies to support creative placemaking. As an expert in the practice, Pru is the author and teacher of Canada’s only university-level course in creative placemaking for the University of British Columbia.
For more than 30 years, Pru has been a consultant, researcher, manager, promoter, funder, policy maker and educator in the arts, culture and creative industries in Canada and the United Kingdom. She is a passionate advocate for the transformative impact of arts and culture on the lives of individuals and communities. Throughout her career, the development of innovative, multi-sector approaches to support cultural sector development, creative economy activation and sustainable urban regeneration has been a centerpiece of her work.
