HOTA, Home of the Arts

About

HOTA, Home of the Arts is the Gold Coast’s cultural precinct. Located within walking distance of one of Australia's most iconic destinations, Surfers Paradise, it's a place where visitors engage, enjoy and connect with the rapidly evolving and maturing arts and culture expression of the nation’s sixth largest city.

Year round HOTA presents a diverse artistic program including theatre, music, cinema, visual art, community events and artist commissions, with a strong commitment to collaboration and developing and presenting work by local artists.

Notable artists in 2018 included Tim Minchin, Neil Finn, Nick Cave, Il Divo and Ministry of Sound.

The City of Gold Coast's 10-15 year Masterplan, developed by ARM Architect and Topotek1, maps out the continued evolution of the precinct. Stage 1A was completed in December 2017 with the delivery of the $37.5m Outdoor Stage and concert lawn. The unique and versatile venue opened in March 2018 with a free sold out concert by Tim Minchin.

In 2018 work began on the construction of a new $60m HOTA Gallery. When completed in early 2021, it will be the largest public Gallery outside a capital city in Australia with the ability and ambition to present exhibitions of national and international scale.

We’re building momentum for a richer, deeper arts and culture experience for the Gold Coast. There’s so much more to come at HOTA, Home of the Arts.
